Artist Statement:
The main idea behind my work is the fragility of the creation of environments. My film and digital photography from my travels and surroundings are a documentation of the world through my eyes, like a collection of postcards becoming memories. I distort my photographs to create a new or changed environment from a previous one. My artwork starts with my photography and comes to exist at the intersection of realism and abstraction, reflecting curiosity and nostalgia, which emphasizes how we can shape our environments. I grow awareness of global warming and human impact in my art when a place or people special to me have been affected. I hope to continue reminding people that they are a memory to someone, even the Earth.
